BTA Indexable Trepanning Tools
Trepanning is a deep hole drilling process which leaves a core that can be used for material analysis or the production of other parts. This can amount to large savings when drilling expensive materials or large diameter bores. Trepanning also requires less machine power than other drilling methods such as solid boring. For these reasons, trepanning is one of the metal working industries most popular drilling methods.
American Heller Corporation has a standard line of trepanning tools for common drilling applications, but we can also design a special trepanning tool to meet your specific bore / core size requirements.
Consider these unique advantages of American Heller's BTA Indexable Trepanning Tools.
- Tools produced to an accuracy of ±.0005" on diameter resulting in closer tolerance holes and accurate indexing of inserts.
- Drill up to 100 times the tool diameter with runout as little as .001" per foot.
- No removal of tool during drilling operations to qualify cutter or pads. Less down time means higher productivity to you.
- Outer inserts with factory ground circle lands insure better hole finish and closer I.D. tolerances in deep holes.
- Hole tolerances of ±.001" I.D. obtainable.
- Only 4 different inserts required to cover a tool range of 2.697"-12.165" diameter, resulting in lower inventory costs to you.
- Carbide inserts in stock either coated or uncoated for drilling alloy steels, cast iron, stainless steels and space age metals.
- All inserts and guide pads are factory precision ground to American Heller's close tolerances, which eliminates all grinding in your plant.
- All guide pads are reversible for double the life.
- Inserts, cartridges and carbide pads are interchangeable with all BTA Indexable Drilling Tools.
Note: Hole tolerances, concentricity, surface finish and runout will be affected by a number of factors including machine condition, alignment, boring bar straightness, bushing size, etc.
