Drilling with the Heller BTA Deep Hole Machining System, or any other single tube system, requires the use of a highly pressurized coolant fluid. This is accomplished with a BTA Oil Pressure Head whose purpose is to:
- Introduce coolant to the tool and direct the coolant around the outside of the boring bar
- Create a containment seal for the workpiece and the boring bar O.D.
- Act as a tool guide
American Heller offers several different configurations of BTA Oil Pressure Heads which are specifically designed to suit the customer’s job shop or production applications. They are:
- Model 120 series - rotating tool and stationary workpiece
- Model 200 series - steady rest-supported rotating workpiece
- Model 210 series - pressure head-supported rotating workpiece with a built-in live center
- Model 230 series - pressure head-supported workpiece with a built-in chuck
- Model 240 series - stationary workpiece with a rotating tool
- Model 330 series - pressure head-supported rotating workpiece with a live center & rotating guide bushing
- Special designs for unique applications
The 3 different drilling methods -- stationary tool/rotating workpiece, rotating tool/stationary workpiece, rotating tool/counter-rotating workpiece -- provide drilling solutions for virtually every type of drilling situation. |
