American Heller Corporation offers a hybrid tool designed specially for drilling across pre-existing holes (cross holes) in your workpiece. These tools are prefered to the 2-piece solution since the pads are in the correct place to properly support the tool as it crosses the cross hole. If a cross hole adapter is used, the pads may not provided the best support possible, but they will still improve tool life when drilling over the cross hole when compared to standard tooling.
